Melt & Pour Soap Instructions

Materials:

  • MELT & POUR Glycerine soap base
  • Soap mould
  • Fragrance oil max 3%
  • Soap dye
  • Dried botanicals, toys, coffee beans if you wish
  • Knife

1.Cut

Open the packaging, safely cut the soap base into smaller cubes, doing this will make the soap easier to handle and melt.

2.Melt

Put the cubed soap into a double boiler and melt, stirring occasionally. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature, as you don’t want it to overheat. The melt point of soap base is about 115°-125°F. Heat to 145°-155°F. This will allow you time to color, fragrance and pour your soap without it hardening before you have time to do so.

Melting in a microwave

Place your soap in the microwave and heat for 45 seconds. Stir your soap. Continue melting your soap in 15-second intervals, stirring in between each time, until your soap base is completely melted.

Keep an eye on your mixture. You don’t want it to boil over or become frothy.

3.Mix

Remove your melted soap base from the double boiler. Once your soap cools to about 140°F add fragrance oil and soap dye to the melted soap base, mix gently ensuring that everything you have added is evenly distributed throughout the soap base.

4.Pour

Working quickly, simply pour your soap base into your soap mould. At this point you can add decorations to the surface of the soap, by gently pressing them into the top of the soap if you wish.
